Ultra-Low-Profile Continuous Transverse Stub Array for SatCom Applications

Modern K-/Ka-band satellite communications have become increasingly demanding in recent years with regard to the performance of terminal antenna used link. These terminals should be high gain and broadband, as well guarantee polarization diversity over a large field view. A low profile is also highly desired integrate system into variety moving platforms, such aircraft trains. An ultra-low-profile continuous transverse stub array proposed here tackle these challenges. The realized printed circuit board technology by adopting contactless transition between stacked-up layers without resorting blind or buried vias. wideband (impedance matched within 19–31 GHz band, i.e., ~50%) provides multibeam radiation for polar angles far ±22.5°. peak value 19.7 dBi, maximum efficiency equals 50%.
